Life in the UK, while fun and vibrant, can also be a tad bit on the pricey side. For a student to worry about their finances during their studies can be quite stressful and unproductive. It can affect your performance and more importantly, can cause you long-term mental health problems. Most universities offer a wide selection of scholarships for students from various backgrounds. For example, some scholarships are subject based, some are based on where you are from. There are merit based scholarships and also need based scholarships. There are scholarships that are unique to your university, and there are some that are company funded. Depending on your circumstances you may have a chance to apply for some of these. We encourage our students to take advantage of such opportunities and you will be no exception.
During this process we will request the necessary documents from you in order to prove your eligibility to the university. You can expect us to ask for recommendation letters, personal statements, essays and possibly more during this stage. If you require any assistance, be it with drafting a personal statement, requesting a recommendation letter or anything else concerning your documents, we will be right there to advise you accordingly.
In addition to the standard scholarship documents, you may be invited to an interview with your scholarship provider. This stage is mainly for them to get to know you on a more personal level and to determine whether your supporting documents match your real-life situation. At Echos we offer interview prep services where you can go through a mock interview with us to better prepare yourself for the official meeting. Our advice will be tailored to your circumstances and we will focus on the many ways we can improve your style of expressing yourself.
All scholarships have a set deadline, mostly a few months before your course is to commence. We will make sure to adhere to them by allowing a generous time frame to compile all your documents and eventually make a formal application. You will be notified once we have received the decision from the university.
Some scholarships are more special than others (don't tell them we said that!).
